Pros and cons of writing in public:
Pros:
- Remember your own thoughts + think by writing
- Useful to other people.
- Connect with people interested in same ideas.
- Get feedback
- Learn more / follow up
- Work together
Cons:
- Embarrassment, via being:
- Wrong
- Right, but unpopular
- A terrible writer
- Potential ostracism resulting from above
- Time spent, if it takes too long or is unenjoyable (N/A in my case?)
In many ways it feels safer to just have one's thoughts in private, but ultimately there's a lot of value that can only come from sharing ideas, and not just by thinking about them oneself.
More people should write. Won't you?
